About the position

NHH in Bergen, Norway, invites applicants for a three-year postdoctoral position in labour economics at the Department of Economics. We are looking for an excellent economist with expected completion of PhD no later than date of commencement.

The position is part of the Centre of Excellence, FAIR, and is funded by the Norwegian Research Council through Grant Number 334912. The project focuses on power and institutions in labour markets and encompasses core policy issues related to agglomeration economics, monopsony power, unions, collective bargaining, and discrimination. In addition to this, the group has large research projects related to human capital development and education economics. The new hire will work on these topics together with the team, but will also be encouraged to develop an individual research agenda in collaboration with the members of the research group. The position will involve moderate administrative duties. The position is based in Bergen, but research travel will be encouraged and there are also opportunities for research stays at collaborating institutions.

The Department of Economics has more than 50 faculty members and is built around a number of internationally renowned research groups in a wide range of fields, providing high quality research and teaching in economics. Besides labour economics, the key research areas at the department are applied microeconomics, behavioural economics, development economics, industrial organisation, macroeconomics, environmental and resource economics, and international trade.
