Pre-doc Positions at the ION Management Science Lab

About Us: The mission of the ION Management Science Lab (IMSL) is to become a world-class research center in management sciences, and a reference point for the study of decision-making processes under uncertainty. Our endeavors lead us to explore uncharted territories, redefine existing paradigms, and contribute novel insights to the global decision-making discourse.

The Opportunity: We are seeking motivated and ambitious candidates for our Pre-Doc or Doc positions, ideal for Master’s (MSc) graduates aspiring to pursue a PhD or PhD students or candidates looking for thrilling research assistantships.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to ongoing research projects, providing support in data collection and analysis, as well as drafting and presenting findings.
• Develop your own research proposal, connected to the research goals of IMSL.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop new methodologies and approaches to tackle complex decision-making challenges.
• Participate in seminars, workshops, and other lab activities, contributing to a culture of learning and knowledge sharing.

Who Should Apply

• You are a Master's graduate (or about to graduate), PhD student or candidate.
• You have a strong academic foundation, excellent analytical and communication skills.
• You are excited about working on innovative themes and have a passion for applied research.

Program Details

Duration: Positions imply a 3, 6- or 12-month commitment with a flexible starting date in 2024. 12 months (First intake: flexible, according to the applicant’s academic stage)

Location: ION Management Science Lab - (1^st floor, SDA Bocconi in Milan), with a requirement of in-lab presence at least three times a week, excluding summer period and holidays.

Compensation: Competitive and commensurate to qualifications, task complexity, responsibilities and duration of the assignments.

Selection Process: Submission of CV, academic statement, motivation letter, and a one-page research proposal on a center’s topic. A reference letter from your MSc thesis supervisor is also required. Following the first screening, you will be invited for an in-person (or online) interview.
