Associate Professor or DTU Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Organisation Studies, Market Dynamics and Strategy

We are pleased to announce an opportunity for distinguished scholars to join the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) as an assistant (tenure track) and/or associate professor at Department of Technology, Leadership and Economics – in short DTU Management.

The position offers a unique platform to conduct pioneering research in organization studies while joining DTU’s broader ecosystem of technological knowledge and innovation.

In announcing these positions, we look for research examining how technologies change the way companies and public organizations organize, strategize, and lead. Your research must focus on organizing, managing, innovating, and developing technologies that enable business value creation, green transitions and societal progress.

The department works with a variety of research methods, including ethnographic traditions. It runs a methods lab that works experimentally with new digital and multimodal approaches targeting scholars and students as well as stakeholders beyond academia.

We offer an international research environment, with a collegial, team-oriented research environment in an elite university based in the Greater Copenhagen area. We have good opportunities for collaboration, supervision, and co-supervision of graduate students and attractive teaching conditions.

Responsibilities and qualifications

The successful candidate is expected to develop their own strong research profile within the interaction between organization, leadership, and technology, and to actively contribute to the section of Organization Science and Technology. Over the coming years, you should aim to strengthen your publication record, establish collaborations with international academia, society, as well as technical groups across DTU, and secure external funding to support and expand your research activities. 

Building on your academic and didactic competences, you are expected to contribute to the development and strengthening of our course portfolio, and you must be experienced in and/or enthusiastic about teaching and interacting with students at different levels.

We are looking for candidates who can document research at an international level on the interaction between organization, leadership, and technology, with clear potential for further development.

Depending on the level of appointment:

  • Assistant Professor: You show the ability to conduct independent research and have clear potential to build an international profile. Experience with international academic publishing is required. Experience with collaboration, writing funding applications, and teaching is an advantage. 
  • Associate Professor: You have an established international research profile and a growing track record of publications. You have demonstrated the ability to attract external funding, and you have and can demonstrate solid teaching experience as well as a commitment to supervising and mentoring students at all levels.

Relevant research areas may include, but are not limited to: 

  • Socio-technical systems and the materiality of organizing and leading
  • Market dynamics and market devices
  • Organization of expertise and knowledge
  • Leadership and strategy
  • Organizational change processes
  • Responsible leadership and ethics 
  • Governance of technology

We expect the candidate to publish in leading/high-ranking international academic journals within our field such as Organization Studies, Journal of Organizational Sociology, Human Relations, Strategic Organization, Journal of Management Studies, Academy of Management Journal, Organization Science, Academy of Management Discoveries, and Organization.

You are expected to be able to teach at the BEng, BSc, and MSc levels (not all at once).

You must be responsible for the teaching of courses. DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both.

Salary and terms of employment 

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. We offer possibilities to favourable taxation for non-Danish residence (see Danish Tax Authority), and a competitive salary. 

Starting date according to mutual agreement. The position is a full-time position.
