The Department of Business Administration at Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech) is seeking an accomplished and motivated academic leader to fill the position of Professor of International Business with a focus on innovation, digitalisation, and societal transformation.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The objective of the professorship is to lead and carry out the research and development processes in the field of international business tackling the current economic, technological, and societal changes. More precisely, we look for a candidate who actively contributes to contemporary and future-oriented international business-related areas, such as international business strategies and environment, internationalization of SMEs, changing business models due to geopolitical changes, and AI and digitalisation affecting business models. In alignment with the general aspirations of TalTech, the professor is expected to put some focus on digitalisation and sustainable transformation.

The position may be filled as tenured or tenure track associate professor or full professor, depending on the candidate’s merits and career stage. The appointee will be required to conduct research in the field of international business and collaborate with other research teams in the department as well as both nationally and internationally, to stimulate research activities at TalTech.

The professor is expected to lead the research in its field in the department, including attracting funding from national and international sources, recruit new PhD students and grow the research team, and contribute to teaching development in its field. The suitable candidate would continuously work on the expansion of national and international networks involving both academics and practitioners. The candidate is also expected to teach and supervise (or co-supervise) at all levels and mentor early-stage researchers.

Qualification requirements

Qualifications

  • PhD (or an equivalent) degree in a relevant field; candidates with a multidisciplinary background and experience in a range of business research methods are encouraged to apply.
  • Postdoctoral or other international work experience in areas related to the described research.
  • A strong publication record in high-quality journals that proves the ability for high-quality and relevant research in business, innovation, digitalisation, or related fields.
  • Proven ability to obtain research funding from national as well as international sources.
  • Experience in leading research groups and coordination of research activities.
  • Experience in teaching and supervising at all levels (BSc, MSc and PhD level). Experience in executive training is considered an added asset.
  • Successful supervision or co-supervision of one or more doctoral theses.
  • Active participation in relevant international scholarly networks.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently.
  • The ability to work in international teams.
  • Fluent written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Business experience is considered an added asset, though we prioritize candidates' academic achievements.
