As part of its growth strategy, the Department of Accounting and Management Control at ESSEC Business School invites applications for an Associate Professor position in financial accounting. The position is based at the ESSEC Singapore campus and has a starting date of September 1, 2027, or upon agreement.

The Department places strong emphasis on high-quality, high-impact research and excellence in teaching. Its faculty publish in top-tier accounting, finance, and management journals (e.g., Journal of Accounting and Economics; Journal of Accounting Research; The Accounting Review; Review of Accounting Studies; Accounting, Organizations and Society; Review of Financial Studies; Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis; Management Science; Organization Science; Strategic Management Journal). PhD students are placed at top research institutions in Europe, North America, and Australia. Recent recruits joined from Columbia University, HEC Paris, Temple University, the University of Manchester, the University of Utah, and Washington University in St. Louis.

Skills/Requirements

• This position corresponds to an “Established Researcher” (i.e., stage R3) as defined by the European Framework for Research Careers.
• All candidates should have a strong and recognized publication record in top-tier accounting journals and are expected to continue to publish in these journals.
• Candidates are expected to play a leadership role in research and teaching development and contribute to the institutional development of the Singapore campus.
• All areas of research in financial accounting are welcome.
• In addition to research and teaching excellence, a successful record in supervising and placing Ph.D. students and a history of conducting research with junior faculty are highly desirable.
• The position will be filled at the appropriate rank depending on the profile and experience of the candidate.
• Proficiency in French is not required to apply, but we appreciate candidates who have or are willing to acquire French language skills.
