Job Description

The Department of Business & Management (DBM) at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship in an ambitious large-scale EU Horizon Europe project under the supervision of Associate Professor Anna Schneider-Kamp and Professor Søren Askegaard. The position is located at SDU’s Campus in Odense and is vacant from 1st April or soon thereafter. The appointment will be made for an initial term of 12 months, with additional funding to be secured for possible extensions of the fellowship.

Job description

This fellowship provides a unique chance to conduct high-impact research within a world-leading interdisciplinary consortium dedicated to improving the health and well-being of European citizens by identifying and addressing sociocultural barriers and facilitators of prevention programs.

The ideal candidate has a background in or experience with one or more of the following topics and areas:

  • Survey methodology / Survey data analysis
  • Quantitative research methods / Cross-cultural data analysis
  • Social and health inequalities / Sociocultural determinants of health

The main tasks of the successful applicant include

  • Following and analyzing an ongoing large-scale survey study
  • Correlating data with existing baseline and follow-up data
  • Contributing to project deliverables, and
  • Contributing to the synthesis of policy recommendations.

The applicant is expected to hold a PhD degree relevant to the topics of the fellowship. Such a degree might be in (Medical) Sociology, Public Health, Epidemiology, or another area related to survey data analysis, cross-cultural data analysis, and/or sociocultural determinants of health. Due to the international nature of the project, fluency in written and oral English is required. Experience with collaborative interdisciplinary research projects, such as EU projects or similarly scaled national projects, is a major plus.

PhD candidates about to complete will also be considered and should attach a statement from their supervisors regarding their impending completion.

To qualify for the position as postdoc you must have obtained a PhD degree by the employment date. 

Appointment to the position will be in accordance with the collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations for academics in the state with the associated circular on the protocol for the job structure for academic staff at Danish universities and the provisions for postdoc as described herein.

  • Certificates/Diplomas (Master and PhD degree). If the PhD hasn’t been completed, please attach a statement from your supervisors regarding your impending completion.

  • Up to 3 of the most relevant publications. Please upload a pdf for each publication. If your publications have been co-authored, please briefly describe the extent of the co-authorship or your contribution to the individual joint publication. Applications will be assessed by an assessment committee. The committee may request additional information, and if so, it is the responsibility of the candidates to provide the necessary material.

When the assessment committee has submitted its report, the candidates will receive the part of the evaluation that concerns them. The assessment report will subsequently be forwarded to the Head of Department who will assemble an appointments committee. The appointments committee will manage and complete the job interviews, should such be conducted.
