ESSEC Business School invites applications for an Associate Professor / Full Professor of Law faculty position

As part of its growth strategy, the Law, Political Science & Society Department at ESSEC Business School invites applications for a faculty position in Law. The position is based at the ESSEC Cergy-Pontoise campus (Greater Paris area) and has a starting date of September 2026 or upon agreement. The position will be filled at the appropriate rank (Associate Professor or Full Professor), depending on the profile and experience of the successful candidate.

The Law, Political Science & Society Department places a strong emphasis on high-quality, high-impact research and excellence in teaching. Its faculty members publish in top-tier law journals and participate in impactful projects with the European Corporate Governance Institute, the European Commission, the United Nations, the World Bank, the Association Française Droit & Management, and many others.

Your Profile:

  • Candidates must hold a PhD in Law
  • Candidates should have a strong and recognized publication record in top-tier, English-language legal journals and are expected to continue publishing in these outlets
  • Research in the following fields is welcome:
  1. Business Law & Compliance
  2. Legal Aspects of Sustainability (e.g., environmental law, energy and carbon law, green finance law)
  3. Public Law and Human Rights
  4. Law and AI, Data & Digitalization
  5. Law & Innovation
  • Candidates are expected to play a leadership role in research and teaching development
  • Candidates must be able to teach in English, delivering practice-relevant law courses to mixed cohorts of future legal and business leaders and professionals across initial and executive education programs, and to contribute to pedagogical innovation and program development
  • In addition to research and teaching excellence, a demonstrated history of active service, commitment to student success, and engagement in the life of a department is highly desirable
  • French is not required; the ability to publish and teach in French is a plus
