SKEMA Business School (https://www.skema.edu/) and the SKEMA Center for Analytics and Management Science invite applications for a position at Assistant Professor rank, in Project Management to begin September 2026. The successful candidate will develop and/or lead academic research projects to publish in the field's highest-quality journals.

The position is permanent with a full-time contract. Salary and conditions are competitive, in line with international standards. SKEMA Business School offers publication bonuses for peer-reviewed publications. The language of work and teaching is English. Knowledge of French is not required and is not a criterion for selection. SKEMA Business School offers support in learning French.

Qualifications must include:

  • Hold or be about to complete a Ph.D. in Management, Engineering, or a related field, with research relevant to Project Management (including Project Studies, Project-based Organising, or the application of Data Science in project contexts)
  • Have a strong research orientation and track record, as demonstrated by a publication track record in highly regarded management journals on the CABS-FNEGE-FT50 lists or show potential
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a collegial environment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellence in research methods, whether quantitative, qualitative, or mixed
  • Strong interest in investing in research focusing on one or more of the following: Resilience, Collaboration, Innovation, and Organisational Transformation as they occur through Projects and Portfolios, and the use of Artificial Intelligence in Project Management.
  • Commitment to service and/or outreach activities

Expectations:

  • Produce excellent research
  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate level courses in Project Management with the possibility of contributing to courses in Data Analytics depending on expertise
  • Contribute to student mentorship
  • Show academic citizenship, commit to the life of the institution, and contribute to projects related to the School’s strategy

ABOUT RESEARCH

The candidate will be a member of the SKEMA Centre for Analytics and Management Science. The research center comprises about 20 faculty members and 5 PhD students from the internal PhD program management. Researchers’ mission is also to educate students and to assist faculty members in understanding and applying advanced techniques in the management of organizations.

The Center fosters interdisciplinary collaboration and hosts research seminars and international workshops, with faculty regularly publishing in top-ranked journals. Research in Project Management at SKEMA follows a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach, requiring strong analytical capabilities to understand the challenges faced by supply chain, project, and operations managers and to develop rigorous scientific responses. Current research themes include blockchain applications in projects and supply chains, healthcare and project scheduling, optimization under uncertainty, queuing theory, interpretable machine learning, mathematical economics, transportation optimization, agility in project organisations, socialised project leadership.

We organize regular research seminars and host international workshops.
