Postdoctoral Researcher in Information Systems and Artificial Intelligence

TBS Education is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher for a full-time position for a period of 10 months (renewable up to 24 months), ideally starting from September 2025. It is also possible to start earlier.

This position is funded as part of a partnership with APEM, a company within the IDEC Group (Japan). APEM specializes in designing and manufacturing human-machine interface (HMI) solutions, including switches, joysticks and control panels, serving industries such as aerospace, defense, industrial automation, and transportation. Clients include major players like Airbus, Thales, and Siemens.

The postdoctoral researcher will contribute to applied research projects aimed at supporting APEM's transformation through data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. This is a unique opportunity to conduct impactful research at the intersection of Information Systems, AI, data analytics, and organizational transformation, leading to potential publications in top academic journals.

POSITION OVERVIEW

As part of the research team from the Information, Operations & Decision Sciences Research Lab and also the Center of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence and Business Analytics, you will work on several key areas related to the adoption and integration of data analytics and AI technologies within APEM. Specifically, the researcher will undertake several key tasks:

Qualitative and Quantitative Research

• Conduct qualitative data collection and analysis through interviews with key stakeholders (management, employees, partners) to understand the organizational and strategic challenges of data analytics/AI transformation.
• Design and implement company-wide surveys to assess the adoption and impact of AI and analytics initiatives.
• Apply advanced statistical methods to analyze survey data and derive actionable insights.

Development of AI and Analytics Solutions

• Work on AI and analytics-related projects such as forecasting, optimization, and decision-support models.
• Develop and implement machine learning models to address real-world industrial and operational challenges within APEM.
• Explore new methodologies and approaches to enhance AI adoption and organizational efficiency.

Research and Academic Contributions

• Translate findings from organizational transformation studies and AI-driven solutions into high-quality research papers targeting top-tier academic journals.
• Contribute to the writing of scientific articles and academic publications.
• Present research findings at international conferences and academic events.
• Collaboration with research and industrial partners
• Work closely with teams at TBS Education and APEM to ensure the relevance and impact of the research.
• Participate in seminars and knowledge transfer workshops.

Collaboration with Partners

• Engage with APEM’s teams to ensure the alignment of research objectives with business needs.
• Participate in seminars, workshops, and knowledge transfer activities between academia and industry.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

• A Ph.D. in Information Systems (or a related field) with knowledge in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.
• Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research methods applied to information systems.
• Some experience in applying machine learning and AI techniques to organizational or industrial challenges.
• A strong understanding of strategic and organizational issues related to digital transformation.
• Fluency in English (French would be a plus) to facilitate communication with various stakeholders.
• Ability to work collaboratively with enthusiasm, rigor, and autonomy.

Contract Duration: Initially 10 months (with the possibility to extend it up to 24 months in total). Ideally starting from September 2025 (possibility to start earlier)

Salary: €2,700/month gross.

Location: Toulouse, France.
