Call for Applications: Full-time Faculty Position in Business Law with a Specialisation in Corporate Governance
ESCP Business School – Paris Campus
As part of the forthcoming strategic plan (2026–2030) set forth by the management of ESCP Business School, the Law, Economics and Humanities Department invites applications for a permanent faculty position in Business Law, based at the Paris campus, with a specialisation in Corporate Governance.
The successful candidate will contribute actively to the School’s legal scholarship through high-level publications, excellent teaching, and academic engagement at national, European and international levels. The successful candidate will represent ESCP Business School and
take part in the development and promotion of legal education within a highly interdisciplinary and international environment.
The appointed professor will play a key role in the School’s teaching and research in Business Law, with a particular focus on Corporate Governance. Their academic work is expected to include comparative analysis of legal systems—national and transnational—and demonstrate a sound understanding of both civil law systems (starting with France) and common law traditions.
Candidate Profile
ESCP Business School seeks a recognised academic expert in the field of law (with a broad understanding of Business Law) who demonstrates a strong commitment to interdisciplinarity.
The position is offered at the level of Associate Professor or Full Professor and requires a minimum of six years’ substantial experience in both teaching and research at the corresponding academic rank.
Candidates must hold a doctorate in law or an equivalent degree, preferably awarded by a recognised French or international academic institution.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to publish in leading academic and legal journals, both nationally and internationally. Where appropriate, contributions to interdisciplinary or management-oriented journals will also be considered an asset. A track record of high-level teaching is essential, covering various levels of instruction from undergraduate to executive education. In addition, candidates should show evidence of a concrete commitment to societal impact through involvement in initiatives such as think tanks, NGOs or policy advisory missions.
Fluency in English, both spoken and written, is essential and must be evidenced by academic qualifications, professional practice, and publications. This is particularly important as 90% of teaching is conducted in English, including at the Paris campus. Proficiency in French is also required to apply.
Candidates with significant teaching experience in business schools are particularly encouraged to apply.
Position Description
The appointed professor will be expected to teach diverse audiences, including future legal professionals, corporate executives, consultants, and experienced professionals as part of Executive Education. Proven experience in teaching such audiences in both English and French will be highly regarded.
Aligned with the School’s new strategic plan, the successful candidate is expected to contribute to three areas of development: the Business School (particularly Business Law), the Tech School (especially the legal implications of ongoing digital transformation), and the
School of Governance.
The professor will work in close collaboration with colleagues to strengthen the presence and visibility of ESCP Business School within the legal ecosystem in France, Europe, and beyond.
Attention will be paid to the candidate’s demonstrated ability to balance commitment to students (in both initial and continuing education, and across legal and non-legal audiences), the community of researchers within and beyond the School, and engagement with alumni
and legal professionals to reinforce ties with the legal and economic landscape.
As part of ESCP’s strategic vision, the appointed Professor will be expected to advance the School’s full potential in their field of expertise across Europe and in other key global regions. To support this ambition, a strong academic grounding within a globally recognised institution for legal research and higher education will be highly regarded. Candidates should be capable of designing and leading high-impact research projects that foster meaningful interdisciplinary collaboration.
The School will support the professor’s international visibility through academic and professional conferences, visiting professorships, and the establishment of individual and institutional partnerships with leading research institutions worldwide.
