JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a visionary professor to lead and advance our research and development efforts in combining AI, data analytics, and business. This role is pivotal in addressing current technological and societal changes affecting business. We are looking for a candidate who will actively contribute to both contemporary and future-oriented business development, with a strong emphasis on the digital and data era.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead Innovative Research and Teaching: Drive research and teaching initiatives focused on reshaping business models, creating value, and influencing strategic decision-making guided by AI and data analytics. Emphasize digital transformation and ethical considerations. Explore and demonstrate the application of AI and data analytics in business, such as predicting economic trends, shaping business models, enhancing supply chain efficiency, and implementing real-time scenario modelling. Align with TalTech’s goals to promote digitalization and sustainability in business practices. The candidate is also expected to teach and supervise (or co-supervise) at all levels and mentor early-stage researchers.

Collaborate and Innovate: Develop a research agenda and grant application stream that leverages the strengths of the existing team and aligns with future trends. The professor is expected to lead the research in its field in the department, including attracting funding from national and international sources and through that attract new PhD students and grow the research team and contribute to teaching development in its field. Continuously work on the expansion of national and international networks involving both academics and practitioners.

The position may be filled as tenured associate professor or full professor, depending on the candidate’s merits and career stage. The appointee will be required to conduct research in the field and collaborate with other research teams in the department as well as both nationally and internationally, stimulate research activities at TalTech.

EDUCATION

PhD (or an equivalent) degree in a relevant field.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

• Multi-disciplinary educational background combining business, IT etc knowledge;
• Postdoctoral or other international work experience in areas related to the described research;
• A strong publication record that proves the ability for high-quality and relevant research in business, innovation, AI, data analytics, digitalisation, or related fields;
• Proven ability to obtain research funding from national as well as international sources;
• Experience in leading research groups and coordination of research activities;
• Experience in teaching and supervising at all levels (BSc, MSc and PhD level; executive trainings);
• Successful supervision or co-supervision of one or more doctoral theses;
• Active participation in relevant international networks;
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently;
• Fluent written and oral communication skills in English;
• Business experience is preferred.
