Faculty position in Electrical Power Engineering

Reykjavík University - Full time

Reykjavik University seeks applicants for an on-site permanent, full-time faculty position in the Electrical Power Program in the Department of Engineering. We are committed to appointing academic leaders who will contribute to internationally competitive research and produce outstanding graduates. Our research emphasizes critical and quantitative approaches to design and operation of electrical power systems.

Position Levels:

  • Assistant Professor
  • Associate Professor
  • Full Professor

Duties

  • Develop and teach courses in electrical power systems, high-voltage engineering, and/or power electronics.
  • Develop and secure funding for national and international research projects
  • Supervise MSc, PhD students and advise post-doctoral researchers
  • Participate in department and university administrative and outreach activities
  • Actively build and manage collaborations with industry

Requirements

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Proven track record of quality, independent research in academia and/or technological development in industry
  • Experience in teaching; course design and organization experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse teams
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English

About the Electrical Power Engineering Program

The Electrical Power Engineering Group is primarily concerned with electrical power systems, renewable energy sources, energy intensive processes, protection and breakdown. We are interested in strengthening our efforts in these and other fields, e.g. energy storage, smart-grids, and device physics. We offer studies ranging from the undergraduate level to a doctoral program. The Electrical Power Program is an integral part of the Iceland School of Energy (https://en.ru.is/ise/).
