Faculty Position (Open Rank) in Education is effective from August 2024 or until filled.

Position Summary

KIMEP University College of Humanities and Education invites applications for one faculty position. The positions are a twelve-month (including vacation period) full-time academic appointment to begin in August 2024 with possibility of extension. Responsibilities include teaching, research, scholarly activities, advising, and service. The new faculty will assist in the undergraduate and graduate programs offered by the college, particularly in our MA and PhD in Education Policy and Management.

We seek talented instructors and innovative scholars in the area of education policy and management who can teach some or all of the following master courses: Philosophy of Education, Curriculum Development and Management, Education Management, Analyzing Education Policy, Strategic Management in Education, Leadership in Education, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

Expertise is desired in the following areas: Education and other relevant areas.

Applicants for professorial positions should have:

• a doctorate degree in Education from an internationally-recognized, accredited university;
• at least 3-5 years of teaching experience in reputable universities;
• prior research publications or clear evidence of research potential;
• Administrative experience in education sector would also be viewed favorably.

Applicants for senior lecturer positions should have:

• a master’s degree in Education from an internationally-recognized, accredited university;
• at least 2 years of teaching experience in reputable universities.

For all instructors experience with remote or online course design and teaching is strongly desired. Familiarity with CIS countries or similar international experience is welcome.

ABD’s will be considered who meet the position qualifications and include in their application materials a letter from the dissertation chair confirming defense date prior to the position’s start date.

Compensation

Rank and salary are competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Compensation after tax compares favorably with net salaries in western countries.

Limited on campus housing is available to rent, or alternatively, help is available in finding off campus housing. In addition to salary, a benefit package includes basic healthcare insurance, reduced tuition rates for KIMEP courses, and subsidy for relocation allowance. New faculty members are provided with a reduced teaching schedule during the first semester. Summer paid teaching is typically available.

The salary will be subject to deduction of taxes (10% Personal Income tax in general) as required by the Law of Kazakhstan.
