UniDistance Suisse – the Swiss Distance University - is an accredited university institute under the Swiss Higher Education Promotion and Coordination Act (HFKG) and has been offering bachelor’s and master’s degrees and continuing education programmes in the faculties of Law, Psychology, Economics, History and Mathematics & Computer Science for over 30 years. All degrees can be completed part-time in parallel with family commitments and/or a professional or sports career in flexible distance learning programmes. UniDistance Suisse offers a unique and forward-looking study model in Switzerland, combined with research-intense faculties and admission requirements and degrees equivalent to those at all other public universities in Switzerland. In the coming years, we aim to significantly expand the UniDistance Suisse in research and teaching, to further strengthen our national and international positioning and gain full recognition as a cantonal university. The position is part of the Rector's leadership team and reports directly to her. Its purpose is to support the Rector's team in the development and recognition of UniDistance Suisse and its faculties as a cantonal university. As a recognised expert in the development, promotion and (Swiss) university policy and with sound knowledge of academic research and teaching, you will advise the Rectorate team and prepare dossiers. The Rector's leadership team ensures that UniDistance Suisse's teaching, research and other services can be carried out under excellent conditions, so that they are of high quality and enjoy a high visibility. Together with the Vice-Rectors for Teaching and for Research and the Administration, the Rector leads UniDistance Switzerland and represents the institution externally.

Your tasks

• You support the Rector and her leadership team in implementing the university's strategy and short, medium, and long-term planning.
• You maintain relations and support coordination in close cooperation with the faculties, the two existing expert and development advisors of the Vice-Rectorates for Teaching and Research and with the Administration in the implementation of our university planning and strategy.
• You prepare expertise dossiers, draft regulations, and strategy papers on university development, promotion, and structuring as a basis for decision-making by the Rector and her Rectorate team.
• You advise the Rector on issues of academic organisation and structures, national and international higher education policy, and on ways for supporting sustainability at UniDistance Suisse.
• You will be involved in the quality assurance and controlling processes, particularly during the forthcoming accreditation as a cantonal university of the Valais.

Your profile

• University degree with doctorate in a subject relevant to the position.
• Several years of professional experience in universities, especially in the areas of university development, promotion, policy and/or management.
• Knowledge of Swiss higher education promotion and policy is an advantage, but not a requirement for the position.
• Strong interest in and knowledge of higher education development, promotion and policy, the university of the future, digitalisation in the higher education sector, as well as distance learning and flexible/modular studies of the future.
• Ability to work independently and in a very structured manner, strong analytical thinking, in-depths knowledge of relevant dossiers, and high attention to detail in regulatory and organisational matters, perseverance and resilience.
• Initiative, high communication skills, ability to work in a team and willingness to innovate.
• German or French mother tongue with good knowledge of the other language, as well as excellent written and spoken English.

Le poste mis au concours fait partie de l’unité de soutien de la Rectrice et lui est directement subordonné. Il a pour but de soutenir l'équipe du rectorat dans le développement et la reconnaissance d’UniDistance Suisse et de ses facultés en qualité d'université cantonale. En tant qu'expert(e) reconnu(e) dans le développement, la promotion et la politique (suisse) des hautes écoles et avec des connaissances approfondies de la recherche et de l'enseignement académiques vous conseillez l’équipe du rectorat et préparez les dossiers. L’unité de soutien de la Rectrice garantit que les missions d’enseignement, de recherche et de prestations de service d’UniDistance Suisse puissent se dérouler dans d'excellentes conditions afin qu'elles soient de grande qualité et bénéficient d'une grande visibilité. La Rectrice dirige UniDistance Suisse avec les Vice-recteurs/Vice-Rectrices enseignement et recherche et l’administration et représente l'institution à l'extérieur.

Vos tâches :

• Vous soutenez la Rectrice et son équipe de direction dans la mise en œuvre de la stratégie universitaire et de la planification à court, moyen et long terme.
• Vous entretenez les relations et soutenez la coordination en étroite collaboration avec les facultés, les deux états-majors des vice-rectorats enseignement et recherche et avec l'administration pour la mise en œuvre de la planification et de la stratégie universitaires.
• Vous élaborez et documentez des dossiers académiques spécialisés, des projets de règlements et des documents stratégiques relatifs au développement, à la promotion et à la structuration de l'université, en tant que base de décision pour la Rectrice et l'équipe du rectorat.
• Vous conseillez la Rectrice sur les questions d'organisation et de structures académiques, de politique universitaire nationale et internationale et sur les modèles d'une UniDistance Suisse tournée vers l'avenir.
• Vous participez au processus d'assurance qualité et au controlling, en particulier dans le cadre de la prochaine accréditation en tant qu'université cantonale.

Votre profil

• Diplôme universitaire avec doctorat dans un domaine pertinent pour le poste.
• Plusieurs années d'expérience professionnelle dans le secteur de l'enseignement universitaire, notamment dans les domaines du développement, de la promotion, de la politique et/ou de la gestion des universités.
• Des connaissances sur l'encouragement et la politique des universités suisses est un avantage, mais pas une condition pour le poste.
• Intérêt marqué et connaissances dans les domaines du développement, de la promotion et de la politique des universités, de l'université du futur, de la numérisation dans le secteur universitaire ainsi que de l'enseignement à distance et des études flexibles/modulaires.
• Capacité à travailler de façon autonome et très structurée, esprit d'analyse prononcé, persévérance face aux dossiers et souci du détail pour les questions réglementaires et organisationnelles.
• Esprit d'initiative, grandes compétences en communication, capacité à travailler en équipe et à innover.
• Langue maternelle française ou allemande avec de bonnes connaissances de l'autre langue, ainsi qu'une excellente maîtrise de l'anglais à l'oral et à l'écrit.

Die ausgeschriebene Stelle ist eine Stabsstelle im Leitungsteam der Rektorin und dieser direkt unterstellt mit dem Ziel, das Rektoratsteam beim weiteren Ausbau und der Anerkennung der FernUni Schweiz und ihrer Fakultäten als kantonale Universität als ausgewiesene ExpertIn in der Hochschulentwicklung und -förderung, der (schweizerischen) Hochschulpolitik und mit fundierten Kenntnissen der akademischen Forschung und Lehre zu beraten und dossierfest zu unterstützen. Die Stabstelle der Rektorin stellt sicher, dass die Lehr-, Forschungs- und Dienstleistungsaufgaben der FernUni Schweiz unter hervorragenden Rahmenbedingungen stattfinden können und eine exzellente Qualität sowie eine hohe Sichtbarkeit aufweisen. Die Rektorin leitet die FernUni Schweiz gemeinsam mit den VizerektorInnen für Lehre und Forschung und der Verwaltung und vertritt die Institution nach aussen.

Ihre Aufgaben

• Sie unterstützen die Rektorin und ihr Leitungsteam bei der Umsetzung der universitären Strategie und der kurz-, mittel- und langfristigen Planung
• Sie pflegen die Beziehungen und unterstützen die Koordination in enger Zusammenarbeit mit den Fakultäten, den beiden Stabsstellen der Vizerektorate Lehre und Forschung und mit der Verwaltung bei der Umsetzung der universitären Planung und Strategie
• Sie erstellen fachkundig akademische Dossiers, Reglementsentwürfe und Strategiepapiere zur Hochschulentwicklung, -förderung und -strukturierung als Entscheidungsgrundlage für die Rektorin und das Rektoratsteam
• Sie beraten die Rektorin in Fragen der akademischen Organisation und Strukturen, der nationalen und internationalen Hochschulpolitik und zu Modellen einer zukunftsfähigen FernUni Schweiz
• Sie beteiligen sich am Qualitätssicherungsprozess und Controlling, insbesondere im Zuge der bevorstehenden Akkreditierung als kantonale Universität

Ihr Profil

• Hochschulabschluss mit Doktorat in einem für die Stelle relevanten Fachgebiet
• Mehrjährige Berufserfahrung im Hochschulsektor, insbesondere in den Bereichen Hochschulentwickung, -förderung, -politik und/oder -management
• Kenntnisse der schweizerischen Hochschulförderung und -politik sind von Vorteil, aber nicht Bedingung für die Stelle
• Ausgeprägtes Interesse an und Kenntnisse in den Bereichen Hochschulentwicklung, -förderung und -politik, an der Universität der Zukunft, Digitalisierung im Hochschulsektor sowie Fernstudium und flexibles/modulares Studium der Zukunft
• Selbstständiges und sehr strukturiertes Arbeiten, ausgeprägtes analytisches Denken, Dossier Festigkeit und Detailgenauigkeit bei reglementarischen und organisationalen Fragen, Durchhaltevermögen
• Initiative, hohe Kommunikationskompetenz, Teamfähigkeit und Innovationsbereitschaft
• Muttersprache Deutsch oder Französisch mit guten Kenntnissen der jeweils anderen Sprache, sowie ausgezeichnete Englischkenntnisse in Wort und Schrift.
