Professor of Management Practice in Strategic Management

In order to accommodate the growing needs in strategic management at ESSEC Business School, we are recruiting a bilingual French / English Professor of Management Practice in this area. The position is based in our Cergy (Paris) campus, and ideally starting in September 2023.

Mission

The professor will join the Management Department, which consists of a team of research, teaching and practice professors providing strategy, organisational behaviour and entrepreneurship courses to the ESSEC community.

The mission of the Professor of Management Practice will be to work together with the existing team in developing and managing pre-experience and post experience programs, teaching and coaching students, and developing new pedagogical content about strategic management across various programs at ESSEC.

Responsibilities

We expect the PMP to be involved in both teaching and coordination activities, including:

• Oversight and coordination of strategy pre-experience and post experience programs (Specialized Masters / executive education)
• Teaching Strategic Management courses and advanced courses and experiences in strategy (e.g., consulting, corporate strategy, strategy execution)
• Developing and teaching industry-specific courses according to the PMP’s experience

The PMP will also be expected to participate in pedagogical activities including admission juries, student recruitment, among others, and to develop new pedagogical content and initiatives, such as course material, textbooks, case studies, MOOCs, SPOCs, digital content or other, that reinforce ESSEC’s position in the domain of strategic management.

Person Specifications/ Requirements

Given the above-mentioned mission and job responsibilities, the job incumbent will be based in
Cergy and must share the ambition for ESSEC and its future in strategic management.
He/She/They must also possess requirements mentioned below:

1. First and foremost, be a team player with a good understanding of the business school academic environment;
2. Close links with the business world and significant personal experience in strategic management (corporate or consulting);
3. Significant previous experience in teaching strategic management or related topics, preferably both in English and in French;
4. Proven experience in developing and managing programs and modules and in new pedagogical content creation;
5. An advanced degree (e.g. MBA), academic certification (Doctorate or PhD), or other relevant professional certifications will be a plus.
6. Advanced knowledge about the academic and practical discourse in the strategic management field, and an open, non-dogmatic mind about it.
