John Cabot University, an accredited American liberal arts university in Rome, Italy, invites applications for an assistant or associate full-time tenure-track professor in Classical Studies.

A Ph.D. in Classics or an equivalent field is required. The area of specialization is open, but preference will be given to applicants with a Literature or Ancient History focus who can support and extend the University’s course offerings in these areas. The ability to teach Latin or Greek, experience in program development, training or experience in digital humanities, and familiarity with the American liberal arts educational tradition will also be considered advantages.

Candidates should have demonstrated excellence in teaching and research and be committed to academic service and program development. They should also be fluent in English, the language of instruction and have permission to work in the European Union.

The successful candidate will start in the Fall semester of 2023, with an initial appointment of two years and the possibility of tenure. They will be expected to teach three courses per semester at various undergraduate levels, to publish research, and to be an active member of the University community.
